I looked both ways. No traffic was coming. I saw the hand was red. I crossed. I get to pay $46. Funny thing is that I constantly see people urinating, smoking crack, rolling joints, and defacing property, sometimes all at the same time and I get a ticket for crossing the street so I wouldn't miss my bus. It's ridiculous. The other funny thing, is that I was warned. When I moved to Seattle, people said, "We don't jaywalk in Seattle, the police ticket for that." But I laughed and said, "Don't the police have better things to do with their time?" I now know the answer. I'm thinking of selling the citation on eBay to subsidize the cost I have to pay. Would you pay $50 for a jaywalking ticket from the fine city of Seattle? It just might be a collector's item someday.

Aaah, revenue.

If only it was tax-deductible as a charitable donation to the Police, because that's really what it is. I mean really though, who dreams of growing up to become a cop who hands out jaywalking tickets? At least I'm not that guy.

that sucks, man. what kinda bullshit cop doesn't pay attention to the crack smoking loiterer, but busts your balls for crossing against the traffic??
what the f, yo?

That really sucks. Here in Baltimore they don't ticket you for jaywalking, but they are vultures about parking. You would think with 300+ murders a year they would have better things to do... Anyway, can you protest the ticket? I think you should fight this thing all the way!

I just had a great idea. You should make t-shirts that say "I went to Seattle and all I got was this lousy t-shirt and a ticket for jaywalking." I bet they would sell like hotcakes, or crack (either way you'd make a killing!)

I like it. Or maybe even, "Jaywalking is NOT a crime"

That's why I never Jaywalk - I always Jay-run-like-the-wind.

I like that:
Jay-run-like-the-wind.
I'll add that to the list of potential T-Shirts, right after the "On your knees, bitch! -- God" T-Shirt.
Which reminds me. Any of you creative types want to design a shirt, I'll put it in the store.

What are you doing jaywalking when you should be planted on a barstool watching the tourney? Oh that's right -- Davidson lost in the first round. Fear the turtle!

Oh, harsh!
Fear the turtle, fear the schmurtle.
Too bad Maryland won't make it more than another round. I've got a match-up between Florida and Georgetown in the finals and I'm sure we can both agree to cheer for the Hoyas.

First of all you are an idiot. Why would you cross the street in front of a cop against a red light anyway? You had a choice you could have waited for the light to turn green. If you missed you bus, catch another one or leave your house earlier. So the way I see it you asked for the ticket. Additionally, it's very typical of today’s society to blame everybody but themselves for their issues. Oh doesn’t the cop have anything else better to do. Let me answer that for you NOOOOOO, especially when you do something stupid in front of him. You just became a target of opportunity.
I am a criminal defense attorney and I hear people say this stuff all the time. I have discovered that if people took accountability for their own actions half the problems that you talk about would not exist and I probably would be out of work.
